Trust … What does it mean to Fully Trust God?
That, dear friends, is a heavy question. We can all Trust God when things are going as we think they should. But, what about trusting God in difficult times? Fully Trusting in God, even in the hard times, is when the true meaning of Trust comes into play.
Definition of Trust:
The Oxford Dictionary defines Trust as “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.” That is a lot to ask of someone!! Trust is especially hard when things are going a different direction than we think they should. We feel we have no control. And, let’s face it, we like to have that control. Handing that control over to God takes Trust and Faith … in Him and His Timing!!! Whoa! That is a lot to hand over, and that is why it is so hard for us to let go and truly TRUST.
Wait … so we are supposed to blindly hand over everything to God not knowing what He plans or when His plan will happen? YES!!! But nobody said that is easy. We have to learn to Trust. We have to lean on God to teach us. When you reach out to God in prayer and ask for Him to help you to learn to truly Trust Him, He will. But, you have to open your heart to Him fully. You have to truly want that guidance from God.
Trusting God:
For me, it was in our darkest hour as a family that I learned what it truly means to call out to God and hand it all over to Him. I have believed in God all my life. But when our darkness first began, I simply prayed and then turned around and tried doing things my way still. However, when I called out due to true fear and sincerely let go of all my “strings” of control that I always left there for me to still maintain some level of control for myself, I experienced the true feeling of God’s grace and presence. I prayed with all my heart for His help as only He could provide, and He did not fail to answer!
1 John 5:14
“… If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (1John 5:14, NIV)
If we come to him humbly and with an open heart of surrender, He will hear us. He may not answer in our way or in our time, but He will hear our prayers and be there for us. He will not leave us!!
Prayer is the Key to Trust
Sometimes, it takes being faced with the difficult times for us to reach the point where we are truly and honestly calling out to God for His help. He knows our hearts and will answer when we are asking with open hearts and sincere desire for His guidance.
Prayer is the key to Trust. Trust is the Action that leads us to unwavering Faith.
